Sport social work looks at athletes as whole people — not just their stats or game‑day results — and focuses on the relationships, pressures, and systems that shape their lives in sport. It’s social work in a sport setting: using a “person‑in‑environment” lens to ask, Is that healthy or harmful? and then helping teams, coaches, caregivers, and organizations build safer, more equitable, and more sustainable sport environments around athletes.

My approach blends sport social work and performance support in a nonclinical way. That means I help athletes and teams talk about things like communication, boundaries, transitions, and support systems, while staying clear that this is not therapy, diagnosis, or clinical mental health treatment.
-
No. My work through Athletes Supported is strictly non‑clinical — I don’t provide therapy, diagnosis, or ongoing treatment, and I don’t replace working with a licensed mental health provider. If it becomes clear that someone would benefit from therapy or a higher level of clinical care, I’ll name that openly and, when possible, help connect them with licensed providers or local resources that fit their needs.

I work with coaches, caregivers, and athletes who are high‑school age or older, plus teams and sport organizations that want healthier culture and support.
If a very young athlete needs help, I focus on supporting their adults — their coaches and caregivers — rather than working with the child directly. -
I support sport communities with topics like clear communication, boundaries, injured‑athlete support, locker‑room dynamics, and safe, inclusive team environments.
I also help caregivers and coaches navigate tough conversations, transitions, and the mental load of sport in everyday, practical ways. -
I offer workshops, webinars, and speaking engagements, plus consulting for teams, coaches, and organizations.
